Silver Gilt at Tatton 2010
We’ve won another Silver Gilt medal for our 10ft x 10ft display of alpine plants at the RHS Tatton Flower Show last week (21-25 July). It is a great accolade for our small nursery, as the Tatton show sees somewhere around 100,000 visitors over the 5 days so it has been an enormous challenge just to grow enough stock. Keeping plants in top condition with the varying weather we’ve had this year has also been interesting, with temperatures at the nursery ranging from -18 to +30 degrees. However feedback from customers, both at the show and nursery, is that all the hardy alpine plants you have bought from us have come through the winter really well, which is fantastic news.
It is also really wonderful to have such strong support from all our regular customers across Yorkshire, and we’d like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who has encouraged us in this big step, and came to see us at the show. Our next show is at the Dorothy Clive Garden at the end of August, followed by Harrogate Autumn Flower Show (17-19 September), so we look forward to seeing you all there.
The show wasn’t without its challenges as we nearly ended up without a van at the end of the show…very stressful… but all was sorted and now we’re looking forward to a couple of quiet days before resuming potting so we’ll have more lovely plants for you again next year!
