Plants

All plants for sale are propagated and grown on our nursery at 900ft, and are fully hardy. We specialise in alpines, and only alpines, so we offer one of the widest ranges of unusual alpine plants in the UK – things that you definitely won't find at your local garden centre. Examples of many of our range can also be seen growing in the garden.

The majority of plants listed will be available throughout the coming year, though we shall inevitably sell out of some, and other (marked below) will be ready later in the season.
A printer–friendly Price List is available for download, but please refer to the actual website list below before ordering as that is the most current for availability. So dive in and have a look at the wonderful alpine gems we have on offer, or indeed choose from our six new alpine plant collections (click on 'Collections' below)

We are constantly adding new plants to the list - enter 'NEW!' into the search box above to see a list of the new additions.

Mail order is accepted throughout the year (Jan-Dec inclusive).

Mail order service

If you are unable to visit the nursery we offer a mail order service throughout the year.
Download the form here >>

NEW lower delivery charge

Good news! Our 48 hour delivery service only costs a new flat rate of £9.50 for parcels containing up to 35 plants – this is a 40% saving on postage. Very large orders may have to be sent as two separate parcels and will therefore cost extra, in which case we will advise you. Charges and delivery vary for the Scottish Highlands & Islands (£20.50), Northern Ireland (£15), Isles of Man and Isles of Scilly – please request a quote for these areas.

Payment

Please make payment by cheque or postal order, made payable to Slack Top Nurseries. Do not send cash. Important: Please send your email address with your order so we can confirm when it has been posted out.

Alternatives

Please list a few alternatives in case your choices are not available, or instruct us to substitute with something similar, or if you prefer we can return a credit note. Alternatively you may wish to send a limit cheque, where you simply write in words the maximum value of your order at the top of the cheque, leaving the box for figures blank. We will then complete the text and figures for the correct amount.

Minimum Order Value

Due to the high labour input on mail order, our minimum order value is £20 sterling, excluding postage.

Dwarf conifers & larger plants

Please note that we package dwarf conifers to endeavour to prevent damage in transit but sometimes their growth can be temporarily distorted as a result. In ordering dwarf conifers by mail order you are accepting that this may happen. The plant soon regains its natural shape. Larger plants may also have their pot and some of the compost removed.

Despatch

Please allow up to 14 days for despatch. We try to despatch parcels on a Monday, where possible, so they are usually delivered to you on a Wednesday. This avoids any weekend delays. We cannot despatch while temperatures are below zero, as plants are unsuitable for posting.

Refunds

Due to the nature of our product (live plants) we do not normally issue refunds. A replacement will usually be offered for faulty goods. Please email us at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or telephone 01422 845348.

Responsibility

Complaints should be made within seven days of receipt of your order. No responsibility can be accepted for failure after planting as drought, pests and diseases all take their toll.
