Welcome

to Slack Top Nurseries and Garden, one of the UK’s top 10 specialist growers of alpines and other hardy plants.

Situated at 900ft in the Pennines, on a north facing side, the tough climate means tough plants – we’ve lost count of the number of times visitors have commented ‘if it’ll grow here, it’ll grow anywhere’. All our plants are grown on the nursery – nothing is bought in.

The naturalistic garden, created in 1980, has a beautiful setting overlooking the moors, and features rock and scree gardens, a 100ft planted wall, herbaceous beds, woodland planting, ponds, an indoor rockery, many stone troughs and other innovative planting ideas. The site is of a sloping nature, with stone paths and steps around the garden.

Garden & Nursery Opening Times
Friday to Sunday 10am-5pm from March to September inclusive (and Bank Holidays).
