Amazing neighbours!
Our neighbours, Irene Milnes and Sue Shepherd are both retired pensioners from Slack Top who are setting off on Monday 8 June to ride their bikes 1200 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats!
They are aiming to raise about £3000 for Cancer Research UK, specifically for research into the early diagnosis and treatment of ovarian and breast cancer. They have lost many friends to these diseases. They also want to inspire other pensioners to get out and show others that being of a certain age does not make you old and incapable!
We find Sue & Irene a total inspiration in what they are attempting to do. There can't be many pensioners who have undertaken such a massive feat... having never done anything like this before! They have already had an enormous amount of support locally in their fundraising and with your help they could raise a lot more.
