There are currently some roadworks on the A646 in Mytholmroyd (between Halifax and Hebden Bridge) that can cause long delays depending on the time of day. This is essential work to reduce the risk of flooding. The timescale is throughout August 2017.

However, if COMING FROM THE NORTH (LEEDS, BRADFORD, YORK etc), it is far better to come via the Otley/Guiseley direction, as it only adds a couple of miles on to the journey but is much better than sitting in a queue! From Otley or Guiseley head to Bingley, then Harden, Cullingworth and Oxenhope, and then over the tops and down into Hebden Bridge on the A6033. (see map attatchment).

FROM THE WEST you can come through Burnley (past Turf Moor Football Ground) and up on Long Causeway to Slack Top, or also there's a road over the tops from the Colne direction. There's no need to go via Todmorden as that can also be congested.
