Sempervivum means 'ever living' and the Romans grew them on house roofs thinking they would prevent lightning strikes! All are ideal for growing in crevices, wall tops or containers. Grow in very gritty compost for best results (at least 50% grit). Rosettes flower in summer. Colours may vary from the photograph.
